Epic Caravan Package
Cruise faster or reduce fuel flows – the choice is yours. Designed for the Cessna Caravan 208B equipped with a cargo pod, Raisbeck’s EPIC Caravan drag reduction system is engineered to reduce drag in all phases of flight, resulting in lower operational costs and increased cruise speeds while adding flexibility to your operation. EPIC Caravan offers operators the choice of faster cruise speeds or reduced fuel flows and lower ITTs. As a bonus, reduced fuel flows result in lower emissions, making operations more environmentally friendly.
A Report from the Field: Tom Dafoe, former Sales Director for jetAVIVA and Cessna Caravan aficionado, flew Raisbeck’s EPIC Caravan System and provided an analysis of its benefits in his video blog. View it here.
- Cessna Caravan 208B equipped with cargo pod
- At fixed power setting/fuel flow, EPIC Caravan adds 4-5 ktas of airspeed
- At fixed airspeed of 175 ktas, EPIC Caravan reduces fuel flow by ~2.6 gal/hr
- At a typical175 ktas fixed airspeed, EPIC Caravan results in ~15ºC reduction in ITT due to reduction in drag and associated power required for level flight
- Forward Cargo Pod Fairing constructed of lightweight composite material
- Dual Aft Body Strakes manufactured with all metal construction
FORWARD CARGO POD FAIRING
- Reduced drag results in increased climb and cruise performance
- With Raisbeck’s design, the need for a cargo pod de-icing boot is eliminated,
resulting in lower maintenance costs and less downtime with no impact
on the aircraft’s FIKI authorization - The forward fairing’s streamlined design eliminates the trapping of airflow
behind the nose gear and in front of the leading edge of the cargo pod
DUAL AFT BODY STRAKES
- Decreased drag results in increased climb and cruise performance
- Pilot control and handling qualities are enhanced
- Equivalent vertical tail area is increased, smoothing the airflow from the
cargo pod and forward fuselage, thereby improving directional stability
and ride comfort - Improved appearance with the “look” of modern technology seen on
many business aircraft
