SEATTLE, WA — Raisbeck Engineering, Inc. (“Raisbeck”) and CiES Inc. (“CiES”) today announced a new agreement to deliver a modern, highly reliable Fuel Quantity Indication System (FQIS) for Beechcraft King Air operators.

Building on the companies’ successful collaboration for the Cessna Caravan, the new King Air solution pairs CiES’s proven magneto-resistive sensing technology with Raisbeck’s industry leadership and customer support network. Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval is targeted for Q4 2025, with first customer deliveries planned for Q2 2026.

Raisbeck Engineering + CiES Digital Fuel Quantity Senders

Finally! King Air Operators Can Get Accurate Fuel Quantity Readings.

The new FQIS will give pilots precise, stable fuel readings across the entire operating envelope while reducing nuisance faults and long-term maintenance burden.

“King Air operators expect mission-ready reliability, and this program delivers exactly that,” said Gregory Davis, President of Raisbeck Engineering. “CiES’s sensing technology and our customer-care capabilities are a powerful combination. We’ve developed a trust-based partnership that leverages both teams’ strengths and that translates directly into quality, speed, and support for our customers.”

“Raisbeck understands product development, integration, and the King Air market like few others,” added Scott Philiben, President of CiES. “Pairing our magneto-resistive fuel sensing, now widely adopted across OEM and retrofit applications, with Raisbeck’s support culture ensures King Air operators receive a best-in-class solution backed by a team that will stand behind it.”

“This is the upgrade our customers have been asking for,” said Nick Lyle, Vice President of Sales at Raisbeck.

“There is real pent-up demand in the King Air community for a modern, dependable fuel quantity system. We’re excited to bring this to market and begin shipping kits as soon as certification is complete.”

Program Highlights

  • Targeted Certification: STC approval expected Q4 2025
  • Availability: First deliveries planned Q2 2026, starting with the King Air 200
  • Scope: Complete replacement of legacy King Air FQIS components using modern CiES magneto-resistive sensing
  • Benefits: Improved accuracy and stability, reduced maintenance requirements, and enhanced pilot confidence in fuel indication

Beechcraft & Raisbeck – Origin Story

Randy Groom Interview

Over his decades at Beechcraft, from his early career to serving as President, Randy Groom had a front-row seat to witness how King Air performance demands evolved and how Raisbeck Engineering rose to meet those changing needs.

Raisbeck Engineering Introduces New STC for Dual Aft Body Strakes on Cessna Caravan 208B

Seattle, WA – 16 August 2023 – Raisbeck Engineering, a leading innovator in aircraft performance enhancements, is proud to announce the issuance of a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) SA02741SE for the installation of dual aft body strakes on the Cessna Caravan 208B. This enhancement is designed to optimize the aircraft’s aerodynamics, further improving its overall performance and operational capabilities.

The Cessna Caravan 208B, a versatile workhorse in the field of regional and utility aviation, has already demonstrated its prowess in various mission profiles. With the introduction of Raisbeck Engineering’s new STC, the aircraft’s performance envelope is set to expand, benefiting operators across the globe.

“Our dual aft body strakes smooth the airflow from the cargo pod and forward fuselage, improving directional stability and pilot control. I like to say they make the tail follow the nose.  But that is not all, in addition to the improved lateral stability, our Dual Aft Body Strakes reduce drag, improving cruise performance. The last thing I should point out is that this STC allows operators to build our EPIC Caravan incrementally, adding the strakes first followed by the forward cargo pod fairing later,” said Hal Chrisman, President at Raisbeck Engineering.

The new dual aft body strakes for the Cessna Caravan 208B are available immediately, interested operators are encouraged to reach out to their Raisbeck representative for more information on installation procedures and pricing.

Raisbeck Engineering is a renowned leader in aircraft performance improvements. With a rich history of innovation, Raisbeck Engineering develops and certifies modifications for a wide range of aircraft, enhancing their capabilities, efficiency, and overall performance. Five-Year GSA Contract Expands Raisbeck’s Footprint in Government Arena

Raisbeck Engineering, a leading provider of performance enhancement systems for business, commercial and military aircraft, today announced that it has been awarded a General Service Administration Multiple Award Schedule contract (MAS). The contract, which took effect September 30, 2022, is valid for five years with three five-year option periods.

The GSA Schedule is significant in that it makes the company’s products accessible through a simplified buying process to state and federal government agencies, expanding the company’s footprint in the federal government marketplace. To qualify for GSA approval, the company went through a rigorous 18-month application process. Contractors selling through the GSA contract are carefully vetted beforehand and must have a proven track record within its industry. The GSA Multiple Award Schedule also provides a competitive advantage in the government sector since terms and conditions including pricing and warranties are previously agreed upon.

“We are very excited to receive a GSA Contract Award,” stated Raisbeck President Hal Chrisman. “Getting on the GSA schedule shows government buyers that Raisbeck Engineering and our products have been thoroughly vetted by the government. So, any state or federal agency can, with confidence and ease, purchase Raisbeck’s existing performance improvement modifications or engineering services to address new or emerging requirements.”

Founded in 1949, GSA manages more than one-fourth of the government’s total procurement dollars and continuously accounts for approximately $44 billion of Government spending. GSA provides a centralized delivery system of products with predetermined terms and conditions such as pricing, delivery times, and warranties and serves to leverage its buying power to obtain the best value for taxpayers.

Lynn Thomas portrait

REMEMBERING LYNN THOMAS

We are all saddened by the passing of our leader and friend, Lynn Thomas, who recently lost his battle with cancer.

A life-long aviation enthusiast, Lynn pursued his passion for aviation both professionally and personally, making his first solo flight at the age of 16. Over the years, he continued to fly as often as possible, both for business and pleasure

Lynn joined Raisbeck Engineering in 2017, bringing his unique talent to the company where his drive and leadership contributed greatly to Raisbeck’s continued success. His experience and achievements in the general aviation industry included sales, business management and marketing with both aviation manufacturers and dealers. Lynn started his career working with major investment firms, including Everen Securities and Paine Weber.

Lynn took an active interest in all facets of the companies he represented. He was often spotted on the shop floor at Quest Aircraft or roaming the halls and main lobby at Banyan. Here at Raisbeck, Lynn always took the opportunity to spend time with the Raisbeck team to support their efforts.

In addition to Lynn’s passion for aviation, he was an avid outdoorsman.  Whether fly fishing or paddling his hand-built canoe, he loved taking in the beauty found in nature.

He leaves us with a sense of great loss.  Lynn has left an indelible mark on all of our lives and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
