About six years ago, when his original A36 Bonanza prop was due for overhaul, he decided to spring for a new scimitar Hartzell “Top Prop” and was immediately impressed by the increase in performance.
When Randy Groom learned Raisbeck Engineering was recently designated a “Top Prop” dealer, he wanted to share his firsthand experience with the upgrade.
Groom says “From the beginning, I loved the looks of the 3-blade scimitar “Top Prop” but after getting it installed, I was blown away by the noticeable increase in thrust, most apparent on takeoff and climb. I also love how smooth and quiet it is.”
He added “I think it is also worth mentioning that the 3-blade scimitar would be an ideal installation for the 33 and 35 series Bonanzas as its impressive size and associated increase in weight, provides a significant opportunity to improve the CG on those airplanes.”
Groom also has his eyes on the Hartzell’s carbon fiber “Navigator” propeller which is 17 pounds lighter and offers even more runway acceleration and climb performance when compared with his current prop. He added “I was already familiar with the unlimited blade life and overall durability of the carbon fiber propellers on our Raisbeck King Air props, so it’s great to see those same benefits are now available for Bonanzas.”
