WEST COAST AVIATION STANDARDIZES ITS
KING AIR FLEET WITH FULL RAISBECK
Numerous benefits to charter operation

July 11, 2011 — Seattle, WA — West Coast Aviation Services and its subsidiary charter and aircraft sale organizations have chosen to fully equip their current fleet of 11 King Airs with Raisbeck Engineering's EPIC Performance Systems and Crown Wing Lockers. West Coast Charter operates four King Air B200s and five King Air 350s. Their Aircraft Upgrade program and sales is operated by West Coast Aircraft Sales. Their decision was made after a coordinated visit with Scott Keefe and James Raisbeck of Raisbeck Engineering.
All 350s are equipped with Dual Aft Body Strakes and Wing Lockers, while all B200s have Raisbeck's Enhanced Performance Leading Edges, Ram Air Recovery System, Dual Aft Body Strakes, Wing Lockers and, when HFG-equipped, Fully-enclosed High Flotation Gear Doors.
The benefits of the wing lockers are obvious for both charter and resale purposes. They increase the aircraft loading capacity and flexibility, while clearing out the cabin for their passengers.
For the 350 fleet, the addition of the strakes increases the FAA-limited yaw-damper-inop cruise altitude from an impractical maximum of 5,000 feet to a usable 19,000 feet through increased yaw stability and associated natural damping. Passenger ride quality is also noticeably improved, as is cruise speed.
The B200 fleet enjoys the same features of the wing lockers and strakes, except that the yaw-damper-inop altitude is removed completely. In addition, these aircraft operate with a new and much-improved FAA-Approved Airplane Flight Manual covering the increased performance provided by the Raisbeck EPIC Performance system throughout the entire flight envelope. Beginning with FAA Part 25 Balanced Field Lengths, continuing through increased climb and initial cruise altitudes, documented increased cruise speeds and range, and finishing with reduced approach speeds and associated Part 25 landing distances, the B200's operational flexibility, airport availability, block speed, and smooth ride are improved across the board.
West Coast's President and COO Gary Standel had this to say: "The benefits to our charter operation are numerous. Overall economy of operation is also improved. We had some of Raisbeck's systems on our King Airs, but never really appreciated the benefits and overall practicality of standardizing on full-Raisbeck. Now, all B200s, as an example, operate to one FAA Flight Manual, and the inclusion of Part-25 Balanced Field Lengths strengthens our safety and acceptability of operations with the FAA. Gone are the days when Part 135 operations could be conducted under Part 91 performance limits. And, our pilot training is so much easier to complete with one standardized set of manuals. We appreciate the efforts of Raisbeck's sales folks in making us aware of these relatively inexpensive systems and the results of having them all work together as in their EPIC package."
The two current B200s for sale through West Coast Aircraft Sales mark the beginning of their new joint effort with S&P Partners to buy available aircraft and provide new paint and interiors, along with equipping them with new PT6A-52 engines from Standard Aero, Garmin 1000 Flight Management Systems, winglets, and all the performance systems Raisbeck offers through their EPIC package. The third such-equipped King Air B200 is due out of their shops in July and will be followed by a fourth. These aircraft have overall performance and productivity greater than the factory-new King Air 250 and at roughly half the price.
Raisbeck Engineering continues in the tradition of its founder, James Raisbeck, in the development and incorporation of cutting edge technology for business jets and turboprops.
